Questions To Ask About German Roaches

  • Where are you seeing them?
  • What time of the day?
  • How many are you seeing?
  • Where do they go when startled?
  • What size cockroaches are you seeing?

German cockroaches harbor in cracks and crevices in warmer moist or more humid areas of the room. Bathrooms and kitchens are usually the first areas they are seen but in many cases they can be found in bedrooms and other living areas.

Pay particular attention to:

Areas where you have seen them; may include dishwashers, refrigerators, pantries, cabinet drawers (inside and underneath), under sinks.

If sightings are widespread, food sources are probably nearby. Look for antennae sticking out of cracks and crevices, droppings, fecal specks, cast skins, dead roaches, and egg capsules.

Note: This is a significant structural pest. If live roaches are seen in the open areas - e.g. on walls, in corners or running on cabinets or counters - then infestation may be significantly large. In infestations like this there is often an odor associated with the infestation.
